²⁴ ·Wise [Insightful] people’s ·lives [^Lway] ·get better and better [move upward].
They ·avoid whatever would cause their death [^Lturn aside from Sheol/the grave below].

²¹ The wise of heart ·are known for their [^Lwill be called] understanding.
Their ·pleasant [sweet] words ·make them better teachers [enhance their teaching].

¹⁵ The ·mind [heart] of a person with understanding gets knowledge;
the ·wise person listens to learn more [^Lear of the wise seeks knowledge].

²⁵ ·Whip those who make fun of wisdom [^LHit/Strike a mocker], and perhaps ·foolish [naive; immature; simpleminded] people will gain some ·wisdom [prudence].
Correct those with understanding, and they will gain knowledge.

² When a country ·is lawless [or rebels; or transgresses], it has ·one ruler after another [or many rulers/leaders];
but when it is led by a ·leader [^Lperson] with understanding, it ·continues strong [or has lasting order].

¹¹ Rich people may ·think they are wise [^Lbe wise in their own eyes],
but the poor with understanding will ·prove them wrong [see through them].
