Proverbs 17:7

⁷^(A)Excellent lips are not fitting for a ^[a]wicked fool,
Even less are ^(B)lying lips for a noble man.

Proverbs 17:7

New International Version

⁷Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool—
how much worse lying lips to a ruler!^(A)

²⁶It is also not good to ^(A)punish the righteous,
Nor to strike the noble for their uprightness.

²⁶If imposing a fine on the innocent is not good,^(A)
surely to flog honest officials is not right.
