¹⁹ Then Nebuchadnezzar was ^(A)filled with fury, and the expression of his face ^(B)was changed against ^(C)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. He ordered the furnace heated seven times more than it was usually heated.

¹² We should not be like ^(A)Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? ^(B)Because his own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous.

⁵ And when Haman saw that ^(A)Mordecai did not bow down or pay homage to him, Haman was ^(B)filled with fury. ⁶ But he disdained^[a] to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy^[b] all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.

¹⁸ Then the king said to Doeg, “You turn and strike the priests.” And Doeg the Edomite turned and struck down the priests, ^(A)and he killed on that day eighty-five persons who wore the linen ephod. ¹⁹ And Nob, the city of the priests, he put to the sword; ^(B)both man and woman, child and infant, ox, donkey and sheep, he put to the sword.

²⁵ On the third day, when they were sore, two of the sons of Jacob, ^(A)Simeon and Levi, ^(B)Dinah's brothers, took their swords and came against the city while it felt secure and killed all the males. ²⁶ They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword and took Dinah out of Shechem's house and went away.
