⁵ Whoever mocks the poor ^(A)insults his Maker;
    he who is ^(B)glad at calamity will not go ^(C)unpunished.

³¹ Whoever oppresses a poor man ^(A)insults his ^(B)Maker,
    ^(C)but he who is generous to the needy honors him.

^11 (A)On the day that you stood aloof,
    ^(B)on the day that strangers carried off his wealth
and foreigners entered his gates
    ^(C)and cast lots for Jerusalem,
    you were like one of them.
^12 (D)But do not gloat over the day of your brother
    in the day of his misfortune;
^(E)do not rejoice over the people of Judah
    in the day of their ruin;
^(F)do not boast^[a]
    in the day of distress.
^13 (G)Do not enter the gate of my people
    in the day of their calamity;
^(H)do not gloat over his disaster
    in the day of his calamity;
^(I)do not loot his wealth
    in the day of his calamity.

⁵ Everyone who is arrogant in heart is ^(A)an abomination to the Lord;
    ^(B)be assured, he will not go unpunished.

²¹ Whoever ^(A)despises his neighbor is a sinner,
    but ^(B)blessed is he who is generous to the poor.
