²⁰ Listen to advice and accept instruction,
    that you may gain wisdom for the future.^(A)

⁸ Do not rebuke a scoffer, lest he hate you;
    rebuke the wise, and he will love you.^(A)
9 Give instruction^[a] to the wise, and they will become wiser still;
    teach the righteous, and they will gain in learning.^(B)

²⁰ Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
    but the companion of fools suffers harm.^(A)

²³ Give heed to my reproof;
I will pour out my thoughts to you;
    I will make my words known to you.^(A)

³ Incline your ear, and come to me;
    listen, so that you may live.
I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
    my steadfast, sure love for David.^(A)
