¹⁷ The former proclaim Christ ^(A)out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment.

^11 (A)for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, ^12 (B)which is why I suffer as I do. But ^(C)I am not ashamed, for ^(D)I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until ^(E)that day ^(F)what has been entrusted to me.^[a]

³ Do nothing from ^(A)selfish ambition or ^(B)conceit, but in ^(C)humility count others more significant than yourselves.

⁷ It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you ^(A)in my heart, for you are all ^(B)partakers with me of grace,^[a] both ^(C)in my imprisonment and in ^(D)the defense and confirmation of the gospel.

¹⁶ For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For ^(A)necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! ¹⁷ For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward, but if not of my own will, I am still entrusted with ^(B)a stewardship.

¹⁶ At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. ^(A)May it not be charged against them!

⁶ For ^(A)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my ^(B)departure has come. ^7 (C)I have fought the good fight, ^(D)I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
