⁷ They are to perform duties for him and for the whole community^(A) at the tent of meeting by doing the work^(B) of the tabernacle. ⁸ They are to take care of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, fulfilling the obligations of the Israelites by doing the work of the tabernacle.

²⁵ but at the age of fifty,^(A) they must retire from their regular service and work no longer. ²⁶ They may assist their brothers in performing their duties at the tent of meeting, but they themselves must not do the work.^(B) This, then, is how you are to assign the responsibilities of the Levites.”

⁵ “You are to be responsible for the care of the sanctuary and the altar,^(A) so that my wrath will not fall on the Israelites again. ⁶ I myself have selected your fellow Levites from among the Israelites as a gift to you,^(B) dedicated to the Lord to do the work at the tent of meeting.^(C)

³² And so the Levites^(A) carried out their responsibilities for the tent of meeting,^(B) for the Holy Place and, under their relatives the descendants of Aaron, for the service of the temple of the Lord.^(C)

¹⁴ And I will appoint them to guard the temple for all the work that is to be done in it.^(A)
