⁵ Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ⁶ “^(A)Bring the tribe of Levi forward and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him. ⁷ They shall perform the duties for ^[a]him and for the whole congregation in front of the tent of meeting, to do the ^(B)service of the tabernacle. ⁸ They shall also take care of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, along with the duties of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle. ⁹ So you shall ^(C)assign the Levites to Aaron and to his sons; they are exclusively assigned to him from the sons of Israel. ¹⁰ So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons that ^(D)they may ^[b]keep their priesthood, but ^(E)the ^[c]layman who comes near shall be put to death.”

Portion for the Levites

18 “^(A)The Levitical priests, the whole tribe of Levi, shall not have a portion or inheritance with Israel; they shall eat the Lord’s offerings by fire and His ^[a]property.

⁸ “^(A)Be careful about an infestation of leprosy, that you are very attentive and act in accordance with everything that the Levitical priests teach you; just as I have commanded them, you shall be careful to act.

³ and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ^(A)ark of the covenant of the Lord your God with the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.

Ordinances for the Levites

¹⁵ “But the ^(A)Levitical priests, the sons of ^(B)Zadok, who ^[a](C)took responsibility for My sanctuary when the sons of Israel ^(D)went astray from Me, shall come near to Me to serve Me; and they shall ^(E)stand before Me to offer Me the ^(F)fat and the blood,” declares the Lord God.
