⁸⁹ When Moses entered the tent of meeting^(A) to speak with the Lord,^(B) he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover^(C) on the ark of the covenant law.^(D) In this way the Lord spoke to him.

Psalm 80^[a]

For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lilies of the Covenant.” Of Asaph. A psalm.

⁹ As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud^(A) would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke^(B) with Moses. ¹⁰ Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent.^{(C) 11} The Lord would speak to Moses face to face,^(D) as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua^(E) son of Nun did not leave the tent.

¹⁶ Let us then approach^(A) God’s throne of grace with confidence,^(B) so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Psalm 99

¹⁸ And make two cherubim^(A) out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. ¹⁹ Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends. ²⁰ The cherubim^(B) are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing^(C) the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover. ²¹ Place the cover on top of the ark^(D) and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law^(E) that I will give you. ²² There, above the cover between the two cherubim^(F) that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet^(G) with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.^(H)

¹² It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you,^(A) when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you^(B) by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.^(C) Even angels long to look into these things.

²³ For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim^(A) out of olive wood, each ten cubits high.
