²² Anything that an unclean^(A) person touches becomes unclean, and anyone who touches it becomes unclean till evening.”

¹³ Then Haggai said, “If a person defiled by contact with a dead body touches one of these things, does it become defiled?”

“Yes,” the priests replied, “it becomes defiled.^(A)”

¹⁹ “‘Meat that touches anything ceremonially unclean must not be eaten; it must be burned up. As for other meat, anyone ceremonially clean may eat it.

²¹ For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, ²² adultery, greed,^(A) malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. ²³ All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.^{(A) 20} These are what defile a person;^(B) but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

⁵ Anyone who touches his bed must wash their clothes^(A) and bathe with water,^(B) and they will be unclean till evening.^(C)

² “‘If anyone becomes aware that they are guilty—if they unwittingly touch anything ceremonially unclean (whether the carcass of an unclean animal, wild or domestic, or of any unclean creature that moves along the ground)^(A) and they are unaware that they have become unclean,^(B) but then they come to realize their guilt;
