⁴⁸ And he stood between the dead and the living; so ^(A)the plague was stopped.

²⁵ And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. ^(A)So the Lord heeded the prayers for the land, and ^(B)the plague was withdrawn from Israel.

^16 [a]Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. ^(A)The effective, ^[b]fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

²⁴ But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. ²⁵ Therefore He is also ^(A)able to save ^[a]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives ^(B)to make intercession for them.

^5 (A)For there is one God and ^(B)one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, ^6 (C)who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,

¹⁰ and ^(A)to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us ^(B)from the wrath to come.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. ^(A)Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

²⁶ And David built there an altar to the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called on the Lord; and ^(A)He answered him from heaven by fire on the altar of burnt offering.

²⁷ So the Lord commanded the angel, and he returned his sword to its sheath.

^16 (A)And when the ^[a]angel stretched out His hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, ^(B)the Lord relented from the destruction, and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “It is enough; now restrain your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of ^[b]Araunah the Jebusite.

¹⁷ Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking the people, and said, “Surely ^(C)I have sinned, and I have done wickedly; but these sheep, what have they done? Let Your hand, I pray, be against me and against my father’s house.”
