Registration of Israel’s Troops

1 A year after Israel’s departure from Egypt, the Lord spoke to Moses in the Tabernacle^[a] in the wilderness of Sinai. On the first day of the second month^[b] of that year he said,

²² I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant.^[a] From there I will give you my commands for the people of Israel.

The Israelites Leave Sinai

¹¹ In the second year after Israel’s departure from Egypt—on the twentieth day of the second month^[a]—the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle of the Covenant.^{[b] 12} So the Israelites set out from the wilderness of Sinai and traveled on from place to place until the cloud stopped in the wilderness of Paran.

The Lord Reveals Himself at Sinai

19 Exactly two months after the Israelites left Egypt,^[a] they arrived in the wilderness of Sinai.

The Second Passover

9 A year after Israel’s departure from Egypt, the Lord spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai. In the first month^[a] of that year he said,

³⁴ These are the commands that the Lord gave through Moses on Mount Sinai for the Israelites.

Procedures for the Burnt Offering

1 The Lord called to Moses from the Tabernacle^[a] and said to him,

¹⁷ So the Tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month of the second year.

² “Set up the Tabernacle^[a] on the first day of the new year.^[b]

Solomon Builds the Temple

6 It was in midspring, in the month of Ziv,^[a] during the fourth year of Solomon’s reign, that he began to construct the Temple of the Lord. This was 480 years after the people of Israel were rescued from their slavery in the land of Egypt.
