⁷ Now it happened, ^(A)when Sanballat, Tobiah, ^(B)the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were being restored and the ^[a]gaps were beginning to be closed, that they became very angry,

The Wall Defended Against Enemies

4 But it so happened, ^(A)when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, that he was furious and very indignant, and mocked the Jews.

¹⁰ When ^(A)Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite ^[a]official heard of it, they were deeply disturbed that a man had come to seek the well-being of the children of Israel.

¹⁷ And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus ^[a]Christ.

¹² Therefore ^(A)rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! ^(B)Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, ^(C)because he knows that he has a short time.”

The Woman Persecuted

¹³ Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted ^(D)the woman who gave birth to the male Child.

Gamaliel’s Advice

³³ When they heard this, they were ^(A)furious^[a] and plotted to kill them.

¹⁷ But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.”

^18 (A)So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹³ Thus says the Lord:

²⁰ all the mixed multitude, all the kings of ^(A)the land of Uz, all the kings of the land of the ^(B)Philistines (namely, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and ^(C)the remnant of Ashdod);
