Israel ska återvända till sitt land
4 (A) Det ska ske i den yttersta tiden
att berget med Herrens hus
ska stå fast grundat
och vara högst bland bergen,
upphöjt över höjderna.
Och alla folk ska strömma dit.
2 (B) och många folk ska gå i väg och säga:
”Kom, låt oss gå upp
till Herrens berg,
till Jakobs Guds hus.
Han ska lära oss sina vägar
så att vi kan vandra
på hans stigar.”
För undervisningen
ska gå ut från Sion,
Herrens ord från Jerusalem.
3 (C) Han ska döma mellan många folk
och skipa rätt åt mäktiga hednafolk,
ända bort i fjärran land.
Då ska de smida sina svärd
till plogbillar
och sina spjut till vingårdsknivar.
Folken ska inte lyfta svärd
mot varandra
och inte mer öva för krig.[a]
4 (D) Var och en ska sitta
under sin vinstock och sitt fikonträd[b]
utan fruktan,
för så har Herren Sebaots mun talat.
5 (E) Alla andra folk vandrar
vart och ett i sin guds namn,
men vi ska vandra
i Herren vår Guds namn,
alltid och för evigt.
6 (F) På den dagen, säger Herren,
ska jag samla de haltande
och föra samman de fördrivna
och dem som jag har plågat.
7 (G) Jag ska göra de haltande till en rest
och de fördrivna
till ett mäktigt folk,
och Herren ska vara kung
över dem på Sions berg
från nu och till evig tid.
8 (H) Och du Herdetorn,
dottern Sions kulle,
till dig ska det komma,
det forna herraväldet ska komma,
dottern Jerusalems kungadöme.
9 (I) Men varför ropar du så högt?
Finns det ingen kung hos dig,
är din rådgivare borta
eftersom du gripits av vånda
likt en barnaföderska?
10 (J) Vrid dig i födslosmärtor
likt en födande kvinna,
dotter Sion,
för nu måste du dra ut ur staden
och bo på öppna fältet.
Ända till Babel[c] ska du komma.
Där ska du befrias,
där ska Herren förlossa dig
ur dina fienders hand.
11 (K) Nu samlas många folk mot dig,
och de säger:
”Hon ska bli orenad,
och våra ögon ska se
med lust på Sion.”
12 (L) Men de känner inte
Herrens tankar,
de förstår inte hans rådslut,
att han har samlat dem
som kärvar till tröskplatsen.
13 (M) Res dig och tröska[d], dotter Sion,
för jag ska ge dig horn av järn
och klövar av koppar.
Du ska krossa många folk
och viga bytet från dem åt Herren,
deras skatter åt hela jordens Herre.

Herren ska styra landet
4 Men i de yttersta dagarna ska berget där templet står bli det mest berömda av alla berg i hela världen och äras av alla folk. Man ska komma dit på pilgrimsresor från hela världen.
2 Kom, låt oss besöka Herrens berg och se Israels Guds tempel, ska man säga till varandra. Han ska tala om för oss vad han vill, och vi ska göra det. På den tiden ska hela världen styras av Herren från Jerusalem. Därifrån ska han låta sina lagar och befallningar gå ut.
3 Han ska döma mellan folken och ge befallningar åt mäktiga nationer långt borta. De ska göra om sina svärd till plogbillar och sina spjut till vingårdsknivar. Länder ska inte längre ligga i krig med varandra. Det ska råda frid över hela världen, och man ska inte ens ha någon krigsberedskap.
4 Var och en ska leva i sitt eget hus i lugn och ro, för det ska inte finnas något att vara rädd för. Herren själv har lovat detta.
5 Därför vill vi alltid följa Herren, vår Gud, även om alla folk runt omkring oss tillber avgudar!
6 På den dagen säger Herren att han ska föra tillbaka sitt plågade folk.
7 Han ska göra dem starka igen i sitt eget land. De ska bli ett mäktigt folk, och Herren ska regera från berget Sion för all framtid.
8 Jerusalem ska återfå sin kungliga makt och härlighet, och allt ska bli som det en gång var.
9 Men varför ropar du nu så högt av förtvivlan? Var finns nu din kung? Han är död! Var finns nu dina rådgivare? Alla är borta! Smärta har drabbat dig som när en kvinna föder barn.
10 Jämra dig i dina fruktansvärda plågor, Sions folk, för du måste lämna den här staden och bo ute på fälten! Du ska sändas långt bort till Babylon i landsflykt. Men där ska jag rädda dig och befria dig ur fiendens grepp.
11 Många folk har samlat sig mot dig och ropar på ditt blod. De är ivriga att få förgöra dig.
12 Men de förstår inte Herrens tankar och känner inte till hans planer, för den tid ska komma när Herren ska samla sitt folks fiender som kärvar på en tröskplats,
13 och de ska vara hjälplösa inför Israel. Res dig upp och tröska, Israel! Jag ska ge dig horn av järn och klövar av koppar så att du kan trampa sönder många folk. Deras rikedomar ska du ge som offer åt Herren, hela jordens Herre.

4 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.
5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.
6 In that day, saith the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;
7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.

11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.

13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

The Lord’s Reign in Zion(A)
4 Now (B)it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And peoples shall flow to it.
2 Many nations shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion the law shall go forth,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Zion’s Future Triumph
6 “In that day,” says the Lord,
(G)“I will assemble the lame,
(H)I will gather the outcast
And those whom I have afflicted;
7 I will make the lame (I)a remnant,
And the outcast a strong nation;
So the Lord (J)will reign over them in Mount Zion
From now on, even forever.
8 And you, O tower of the flock,
The stronghold of the daughter of Zion,
To you shall it come,
Even the former dominion shall come,
The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.”
9 Now why do you cry aloud?
(K)Is there no king in your midst?
Has your counselor perished?
For (L)pangs have seized you like a woman in [b]labor.
10 Be in pain, and labor to bring forth,
O daughter of Zion,
Like a woman in birth pangs.
For now you shall go forth from the city,
You shall dwell in the field,
And to (M)Babylon you shall go.
There you shall be delivered;
There the (N)Lord will (O)redeem you
From the hand of your enemies.
11 (P)Now also many nations have gathered against you,
Who say, “Let her be defiled,
