⁴ He answered, ^(A)“Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, ⁵ and said, ^(B)‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and ^(C)the two shall become one flesh’?

²⁷ And ^(A)beginning with ^(B)Moses and ^(C)all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, ^(A)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, ^(B)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

¹³ And we impart this ^(A)in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, ^(B)interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.^[a]

^37 (A)If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord.

²⁰ knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. ²¹ For ^(A)no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God ^(B)as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

^2 (A)that you should remember the predictions of ^(B)the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles,

¹⁵ And count ^(A)the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as ^(B)our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you ^(C)according to the wisdom given him, ¹⁶ as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. ^(D)There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, ^(E)as they do the other Scriptures.
