The Lord’s Supper Instituted

^26 (A)Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and ^[a](B)after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” ²⁷ And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; ²⁸ for ^(C)this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for ^(D)many for forgiveness of sins.

¹⁸ Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood. ¹⁹ For when every commandment had been ^(A)spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, ^(B)he took the ^(C)blood of the calves and the goats, with ^(D)water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both ^(E)the book itself and all the people, ²⁰ saying, “^(F)This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.” ²¹ And in the same way he ^(G)sprinkled both the ^[a]tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood. ²² And ^(H)almost all things are cleansed with blood, according to the Law, and ^(I)without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
