The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing [a]idle, and said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, [b]and whatever is right you will receive.’
8 “So when evening had come, the owner of the vineyard said to his steward, ‘Call the laborers and give them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those came who were hired about the eleventh hour, they each received a denarius. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more; and they likewise received each a denarius. 11 And when they had received it, they [c]complained against the landowner, 12 saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ 13 But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. 15 (A)Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or (B)is your eye evil because I am good?’ 16 (C)So the last will be first, and the first last. (D)For[d] many are called, but few chosen.”
Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection(E)
17 (F)Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 (G)“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 (H)and deliver Him to the Gentiles to (I)mock and to (J)scourge and to (K)crucify. And the third day He will (L)rise again.”
Greatness Is Serving(M)
20 (N)Then the mother of (O)Zebedee’s sons came to Him with her sons, kneeling down and asking something from Him.
21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?”
She said to Him, “Grant that these two sons of mine (P)may sit, one on Your right hand and the other on the left, in Your kingdom.”
22 But Jesus answered and said, “You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink (Q)the cup that I am about to drink, [e]and be baptized with (R)the baptism that I am baptized with?”
They said to Him, “We are able.”
23 So He said to them, (S)“You will indeed drink My cup, [f]and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father.”
24 (T)And when the ten heard it, they were greatly displeased with the two brothers. 25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. 26 Yet (U)it shall not be so among you; but (V)whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 (W)And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— 28 (X)just as the (Y)Son of Man did not come to be served, (Z)but to serve, and (AA)to give His life a ransom (AB)for many.”
Two Blind Men Receive Their Sight(AC)
29 (AD)Now as they went out of Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. 30 And behold, (AE)two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, (AF)Son of David!”
31 Then the multitude (AG)warned them that they should be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!”
32 So Jesus stood still and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
33 They said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” 34 So Jesus had (AH)compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

20 “For the kingdom of heaven is like(A) a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.(B) 2 He agreed to pay them a denarius[a] for the day and sent them into his vineyard.
3 “About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. 4 He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ 5 So they went.
“He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. 6 About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 “‘Because no one has hired us,’ they answered.
“He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 “When evening came,(C) the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.’
9 “The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. 10 So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius. 11 When they received it, they began to grumble(D) against the landowner. 12 ‘These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said, ‘and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat(E) of the day.’
13 “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend.(F) Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? 14 Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you. 15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’(G)
16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”(H)
Jesus Predicts His Death a Third Time(I)
17 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, 18 “We are going up to Jerusalem,(J) and the Son of Man(K) will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law.(L) They will condemn him to death 19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged(M) and crucified.(N) On the third day(O) he will be raised to life!”(P)
A Mother’s Request(Q)
20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons(R) came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down,(S) asked a favor of him.
21 “What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”(T)
22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup(U) I am going to drink?”
“We can,” they answered.
23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup,(V) but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
24 When the ten heard about this, they were indignant(W) with the two brothers. 25 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(X) 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man(Y) did not come to be served, but to serve,(Z) and to give his life as a ransom(AA) for many.”
Two Blind Men Receive Sight(AB)
29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David,(AC) have mercy on us!”
31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”
34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

20 Ito ay sapagkat ang paghahari ng langit ay katulad sa isang may-ari ng sambahayan na lumabas nang maagang-maaga upang umupa ng mga manggagawa sa kaniyang ubasan.
2 Nang nakipagkasundo na siya sa mga manggagawa sa isang denaryo sa bawat araw, sinugo na niya sila sa kaniyang ubasan.
3 Lumabas siya nang mag-iikatlong oras na at nakita niya ang iba na nakatayo sa pamilihang dako na walang ginagawa. 4 Sinabi niya sa kanila: Pumunta rin naman kayo sa ubasan at kung ano ang nararapat, ibibigay ko sa inyo. Pumunta ngasila.
5 Lumabas siyang muli nang mag-iikaanim at mag-iikasiyam na ang oras at gayundin ang ginawa. 6 Nang mag-ikalabing-isang oras na, lumabas siya at natagpuan ang iba na nakatayo at walang ginagawa. Sinabi niya sa kanila: Bakit nakatayo kayo rito sa buong maghapon na walang ginagawa?
7 Sinabi nila sa kaniya: Ito ay sapagkat walang sinumang umupa sa amin.
Sinabi niya sa kanila:Pumunta rin naman kayo sa aking ubasan.Anuman ang nararapat, iyon ang tatanggapin ninyo.
8 Nang magtatakip-silim na, sinabi ng panginoon ng ubasan sa kaniyang katiwala: Tawagin mo ang mga manggagawa. Ibigay mo sa kanila ang kanilang mga upa, mula sa mga huli hanggang sa mga una.
9 Paglapit ng mga dumating ng mag-iikalabing-isang oras, tumanggap ng isang denaryo ang bawat isa. 10 Nang lumapit ang mga nauna, inakala nilang sila ay tatanggap ng higit pa. Ngunit sila ay tumanggap din ng tig-iisang denaryo. 11 Nang matanggap na nila ito, nagbulung-bulungan sila laban sa may-ari ng sambahayan. 12 Sinabi nila: Ang mga huling ito ay isang oras lamang gumawa at ipinantay mo sa amin na nagbata ng hirap at init sa maghapon.
13 Sumagot siya sa isa sa kanila: Kaibigan, wala akong ginawang kamalian sa iyo. Hindi ba nakipagkasundo ka sa akin sa isang denaryo? 14 Kunin mo ang ganang sa iyo at lumakad ka na. Ibig kong bigyan itong huli nang gaya ng ibinigay ko sa iyo. 15 Hindi ba nararapat lamang na gawin ko ang ibig kong gawin sa aking ari-arian?Tinitingnan ba ninyo ako nang masama dahil ako ay mabuti?
16 Kaya nga, ang mga huli ay mauuna at ang mga una ay mahuhuli sapagkat marami ang mga tinawag ngunit kakaunti ang mga pinili.
Binanggit Muli ni Jesus ang Kaniyang Kamatayan
17 Nang umaahon si Jesus patungong Jerusalem, isinama niya ang labindalawang alagad. Sa daan, ibinukod niya sila at sinabi:
18 Narito, tayo ay aahon sa Jerusalem at ang Anak ng Tao ay ipagkakanulo sa mga pinunong-saserdote at sa mga guro ng kautusan. Hahatulan nila siya ng kamatayan. 19 Ibibigay siya sa mga Gentil upang kutyain, hagupitin at ipako sa krus. Ngunit sa ikatlong araw ay muli siyang mabubuhay.
Ang Kahilingan ng Isang Ina
20 Nang magkagayon, lumapit kay Jesus ang ina ng mga anak ni Zebedeo kasama ang kaniyang mga anak na lalaki, na sumasamba at may hinihingi sa kaniya.
21 Sinabi ni Jesus sa kaniya: Ano ang ibig mo?
Sinabi niya sa kaniya: Sabihin mo na ang dalawang kong anak ay maupo sa iyong kanan at sa iyong kaliwa, sa iyong paghahari.
22 Ngunit sumagot si Jesus: Hindi mo nalalaman kung ano ang iyong hinihingi. Kaya ba ninyong inuman ang sarong malapit ko nang iinuman? Mababawtismuhan ba kayo ng bawtismong ibabawtismo sa akin?
Sinabi nila sa kaniya: Kaya namin.
23 Sinabi niya sa kanila: Makakainom kayo sa aking saro at mababawtismuhan ng bawtismong ibinawtismo sa akin. Ngunit ang pag-upo sa aking kanan at sa aking kaliwa ay hindi sa akin ang pagkakaloob. Ito ay ipagkakaloob sa kanila na mga pinaghandaan ng aking Ama.
24 Nang marinig ito ng sampu, lubha silang nagalit sa magkapatid. 25 Ngunit tinawag sila ni Jesus at sinabi: Nalalaman ninyo na ang mga namumuno sa mga Gentil ay namumuno na may pagkapanginoon sa kanila. Sila na mga dakila ang may malaking kapamahalaan sa kanila. 26 Ngunit hindi dapat maging gayon sa inyo. Sa halip, ang sinumang ibig maging dakila sa inyo ay magiging tagapaglingkod ninyo. 27 Sinumang ibig na maging una sa inyo ay magiging alipin ninyo. 28 Maging katulad siya ng Anak ng Tao na naparito, hindi upang paglingkuran kundi upang maglingkod at magbigay ng kaniyang buhay na pantubos sa marami.
Nakakita ang Dalawang Bulag
29 Nang sila ay papalabas sa Jerico, sumunod sa kaniya ang napakaraming tao.
30 Narito, may dalawang lalaking bulag ang nakaupo sa tabi ng daan. Nang narinig nilang dumadaan si Jesus, sumigaw sila na sinasabi: O Panginoon, ikaw na Anak ni David, mahabag ka sa amin!
31 Sinaway sila ng napakaraming tao upang tumahimik ngunit lalo pa silang sumigaw na sinasabi: O Panginoon, ikaw na Anak ni David, mahabag ka sa amin!
32 Huminto si Jesus, at tinawag sila at sinabi: Ano ang ibig ninyong gawin ko sa inyo?
33 Sinabi nila sa kaniya: Panginoon, ibig naming makakita.
34 Kaya, nahabag si Jesus at hinipo ang kanilang mga mata. Kaagad silang nakakita at sumunod sa kaniya.
