⁶ Don’t give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs,^(A) or they will trample them with their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.

³⁰ Now a long way off from them, a large herd of pigs was feeding. ³¹ “If You drive us out,” the demons begged Him, “send us into the herd of pigs.”

³² “Go!” He told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs. And suddenly the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water.

³² A large herd of pigs was there, feeding on the hillside. The demons begged Him to permit them to enter the pigs, and He gave them permission. ³³ The demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.

¹⁵ Then he went to work for^[a] one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs.^{(A) 16} He longed to eat his fill from^[b] the carob pods^[c] the pigs were eating, but no one would give him any.
