³The Tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, order these stones to become bread.” ⁴But he answered, “The Tanakh says,

‘Man does not live on bread alone,
but on every word that comes from the mouth of Adonai’”^[a]

⁵Then the Adversary took him to the holy city and set him on the highest point of the Temple.
