⁵And he threw the pieces of silver into ^(A)the temple sanctuary and left; and ^(B)he went away and hanged himself.

⁵And throwing the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary, he left; and went away and ^[a]hanged himself.

Matthew 27:5 Possibly people later threw Judas’ body over the cliff into the Valley of Hinnom where his body was mangled on the rocks below (Acts 1:18). Suicides were not given a proper burial.

⁵And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
