³⁴There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall;^(A) but after tasting it, he refused to drink it.

³⁴They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

⁴⁸Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,^(A) put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink.

⁴⁸And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

²⁹A jar of wine vinegar^(A) was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.

²⁹Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
