Matthew 20:20-23New American Standard Bible (NASB)
20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to [a]Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him.21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She *said to Him, “Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left.”22 But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They *said to Him, “We are able.”23 He *said to them, “My cup you shall drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.”
11 This He said, and after that He *said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep.”12 The disciples then said to Him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will [a]recover.”13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of [b]literal sleep.14 So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead,15 and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him.”
51 When the days were approaching for His [a]ascension, He [b]was determined to go to Jerusalem;52 and He sent messengers on ahead of Him, and they went and entered a village of the Samaritans to [c]make arrangements for Him.53 But they did not receive Him, because [d]He was traveling toward Jerusalem.54 When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?”55 But He turned and rebuked them, [[e]and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of;56 for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”] And they went on to another village.
