²⁴But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul,^(A) the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.”^(B)

²⁴But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

²⁴But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “This man ^(A)casts out demons only by ^[a]Beelzebul the ruler of the demons.”

Matthew 12:24 Or Beezebul; meaning uncertain, perhaps lord prince, referring to Satan

²⁴But the Pharisees heard it and said, “This man ^[a]casts out demons only by [the help of] Beelzebul (Satan) the prince of the demons.”

²⁴But the Pharisees, when they heard the report, were cynical. “Black magic,” they said. “Some devil trick he’s pulled from his sleeve.”
