Pilate Sets a Guard

⁶² On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, ⁶³ saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ^(A)‘After three days I will rise.’

⁶⁵ Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.”

The Women Worship the Risen Lord

⁹ And ^[a]as they went to tell His disciples, behold, ^(A)Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. ¹⁰ Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell ^(B)My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ^(A)“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. ^19 (B)Go ^[a]therefore and ^(C)make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ^20 (D)teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am ^(E)with you always, even to the end of the age.” ^[b]Amen.

⁹ that ^(A)if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰ For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹³ For ^(A)“whoever calls ^(B)on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

²³ But Jesus answered them, saying, ^(A)“The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. ²⁴ Most assuredly, I say to you, ^(B)unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much ^[a]grain. ^25 (C)He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. ²⁶ If anyone serves Me, let him ^(D)follow Me; and ^(E)where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

Jesus Predicts His Death on the Cross

^27 (F)“Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? ^(G)But for this purpose I came to this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify Your name.”

^(H)Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

A Heavenly Inheritance

^3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who ^(B)according to His abundant mercy ^(C)has begotten us again to a living hope ^(D)through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, ⁴ to an inheritance ^[a]incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, ^(E)reserved in heaven for you, ^5 (F)who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
