⁸ For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds;^(A) and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

⁴² Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.^[a]”^(A)

⁴³ Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”^(B)

²² A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David,^(A) have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”^(B)

²³ Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”

²⁴ He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”^(C)

²⁵ The woman came and knelt before him.^(D) “Lord, help me!” she said.

²⁶ He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”

²⁷ “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”

²⁸ Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith!^(E) Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.

¹¹ The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus^(A) named Saul, for he is praying.

⁸ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”^[a](A)

⁹ “How can this be?”^(B) Nicodemus asked.

¹⁰ “You are Israel’s teacher,”^(C) said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things?

¹⁹ His prayer and how God was moved by his entreaty, as well as all his sins and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled^(A) himself—all these are written in the records of the seers.^[a](B)

² and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
