Warning and Encouragement

¹⁴ Make every effort to live in peace with everyone^(A) and to be holy;^(B) without holiness no one will see the Lord.^(C)

¹⁶ For where you have envy and selfish ambition,^(A) there you find disorder and every evil practice.

¹⁷ But the wisdom that comes from heaven^(B) is first of all pure; then peace-loving,^(C) considerate, submissive, full of mercy^(D) and good fruit, impartial and sincere.^{(E) 18} Peacemakers^(F) who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.^(G)

¹⁸ If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.^(A)

²² But the fruit^(A) of the Spirit is love,^(B) joy, peace,^(C) forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

³⁵ But love your enemies, do good to them,^(A) and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children^(B) of the Most High,^(C) because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

¹⁴ For those who are led by the Spirit of God^(A) are the children of God.^(B)

5 ¹ Follow God’s example,^(A) therefore, as dearly loved children^{(B) 2} and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us^(C) and gave himself up for us^(D) as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.^(E)
