^39 (A)But I tell you not to resist an evil person. ^(B)But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

^9 (A)not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary ^(B)blessing, knowing that you were called to this, ^(C)that you may inherit a blessing.

^15 (A)See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always ^(B)pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

^29 (A)To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. ^(B)And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. ^30 (C)Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back.

²⁰ For ^(A)what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God. ²¹ For ^(B)to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for ^[a]us, ^(C)leaving ^[b]us an example, that you should follow His steps:

^23 (E)who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but ^(F)committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

^18 (A)You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, ^(B)but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

^17 (A)Repay no one evil for evil. ^(B)Have^[a] regard for good things in the sight of all men. ¹⁸ If it is possible, as much as depends on you, ^(C)live peaceably with all men. ¹⁹ Beloved, ^(D)do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ^(E)“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.
