²⁰ At once they left their nets and followed him.^(A)

²⁸ Then Peter spoke up, “We have left everything to follow you!”^(A)

²⁹ “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel ³⁰ will fail to receive a hundred times as much^(B) in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come^(C) eternal life.^{(D) 31} But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”^(E)

²⁷ Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you!^(A) What then will there be for us?”

²⁸ Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”^(A)

²⁹ “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God ³⁰ will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come^(B) eternal life.”^(C)

²¹ So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen^(A) and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.^(B)

¹⁶ to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles,^(A) my immediate response was not to consult any human being.^(B)

³⁷ “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.^(A)
