³⁰ When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.^(A)

¹⁹ as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to one another, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts,^{(A) 20} giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,^(B)

Jesus Prays on the Mount of Olives

³⁹ He came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.^(A)

Jesus’s Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem

21 When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ^[a] dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.^{[b](A) 17} And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.^(B)

The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus

18 After Jesus had spoken these words, he went out with his disciples across the Kidron Valley to a place where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. ² Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew the place because Jesus often met there with his disciples.^{(A) 3} So Judas brought a detachment of soldiers together with police from the chief priests and the Pharisees, and they came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.^{(B) 4} Then Jesus, knowing all that was to happen to him, came forward and asked them, “Whom are you looking for?”^(C)

³¹ but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us be on our way.^(A)

³⁷ Every day he was teaching in the temple, and at night he would go out and spend the night on the Mount of Olives, as it was called.^(A)

Peter’s Denial Foretold

²⁶ When they had sung the hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.^{(A) 27} And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away,^[a] for it is written,

²⁸ “But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.”^{(C) 29} Peter said to him, “Even though all fall away,^[b] I will not.”^{(D) 30} Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, this day, this very night, before the cock crows twice, you will deny me three times.”^{(E) 31} But he said vehemently, “Even though I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And all of them said the same.
