^34 (A)Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: ^(B)some of them you will kill and crucify, and ^(C)some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city,

Persecutions Are Coming^(A)

^16 (B)“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. ^(C)Therefore be wise as serpents and ^(D)harmless^[a] as doves. ¹⁷ But beware of men, for ^(E)they will deliver you up to councils and ^(F)scourge you in their synagogues.

⁵² Then He said to them, “Therefore every ^[a]scribe instructed ^[b]concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure ^(A)things new and old.”

²⁸ Him we preach, ^(A)warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, ^(B)that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.

Paul and Barnabas Are Sent to the Gentiles

13 Now ^(A)in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: ^(B)Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, ^(C)Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

⁴⁹ Therefore the wisdom of God also said, ^(A)‘I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’ ⁵⁰ that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation, ^51 (B)from the blood of Abel to ^(C)the blood of Zechariah who perished between the altar and the temple. Yes, I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.

^34 (A)Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: ^(B)some of them you will kill and crucify, and ^(C)some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city, ^35 (D)that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, ^(E)from the blood of righteous Abel to ^(F)the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation.

^23 (A)When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have ^(B)gone through the cities of Israel ^(C)before the Son of Man comes.

^10 (A)And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, ^(B)and send gifts to one another, ^(C)because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.
