Psalm 110

Assurance of Victory for God’s Priest-King

Of David. A Psalm.

¹³ And to which of the angels has he ever said,

³⁴ For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says,

²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.^(A)

¹² But when Christ^[a] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, “he sat down at the right hand of God,” ¹³ and since then has been waiting “until his enemies would be made a footstool for his feet.”^(A)

³ He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains^[a] all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for^[b] sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,^(A)

² looking to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the sake of^[a] the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.^(A)

The Dead Are Judged

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sat on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his^[a] presence, and no place was found for them.^{(A) 12} And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.^{(B) 13} And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done.^{(C) 14} Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire,^{(D) 15} and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
