⁴³ He said to them, “How is it then that David by the Spirit^[a] calls him Lord, saying,

² At once I was in the spirit,^[a] and there in heaven stood a throne, with one seated on the throne!^(A)

¹⁰ I was in the spirit^[a] on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet^(A)

²¹ because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.^[a](A)

Warning against Unbelief

⁷ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,

³⁰ Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would put one of his descendants on his throne.^{(A) 31} Foreseeing this, David^[a] spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah,^[b] saying,

¹⁶ “Brothers and sisters,^[a] the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit through David foretold concerning Judas, who became a guide for those who arrested Jesus,^(A)

²⁶ It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.^{[a](A) 27} Guided by the Spirit, Simeon^[b] came into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what was customary under the law,^(B)
