²² When they heard this, they were amazed, and they left him and went away.

¹² When they realized that he had told this parable against them, they wanted to arrest him, but they feared the crowd. So they left him and went away.^(A)

⁶ Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.^(A)

¹⁰ But they could not withstand the wisdom and the Spirit^[a] with which he spoke.^(A)

²⁵ He said to them, “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.”^{(A) 26} And they were not able in the presence of the people to trap him by what he said, and being amazed by his answer they became silent.

⁴⁶ No one was able to give him an answer, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.^(A)

³³ And when the crowds heard it, they were astounded at his teaching.^(A)

Coming Persecutions

¹⁶ “I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.^(A)

¹⁵ for I will give you words^[a] and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict.^(A)
