Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection

^21 (A)From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that ^(B)he must go to Jerusalem and ^(C)suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on ^(D)the third day be raised.

⁶ He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, ^(A)while he was still in Galilee, ^7 (B)that the Son of Man ^(C)must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and ^(D)be crucified and on ^(E)the third day rise.”

Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time

^17 (A)And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, ¹⁸ “See, ^(B)we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will ^(C)condemn him to death ¹⁹ and ^(D)deliver him over to the Gentiles ^(E)to be mocked and flogged and ^(F)crucified, and he will be raised on ^(G)the third day.”

Jesus Again Foretells Death, Resurrection

^22 (A)As they were gathering^[a] in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, ²³ and they will kill him, and he will be raised on ^(B)the third day.” And they were greatly distressed.

³ For ^(A)I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died ^(B)for our sins ^(C)in accordance with the Scriptures, ⁴ that he was buried, that he was raised ^(D)on the third day ^(E)in accordance with the Scriptures,

¹² But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but ^(A)did to him whatever they pleased. ^(B)So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.”

⁶³ and said, “Sir, we remember how ^(A)that impostor said, while he was still alive, ^(B)‘After three days I will rise.’

²⁸ even as the Son of Man came not to be served but ^(A)to serve, and ^(B)to give his life as a ransom for ^(C)many.”

²³ this Jesus,^{[a] (A)}delivered up according to ^(B)the definite plan and ^(C)foreknowledge of God, ^(D)you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. ^24 (E)God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because ^(F)it was not possible for him to be held by it. ²⁵ For David says concerning him,

²⁹ “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about ^(M)the patriarch David ^(N)that he both died and ^(O)was buried, and ^(P)his tomb is with us to this day. ^30 (Q)Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that ^(R)God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, ³¹ he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that ^(S)he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. ³² This Jesus ^(T)God raised up, ^(U)and of that we all are witnesses.
