¹³ This is why I speak to them in parables, because ^(A)seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, ^(B)nor do they understand.

^2 (A)“Son of man, you dwell in the midst of ^(B)a rebellious house, ^(C)who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are ^(D)a rebellious house.

³ And even ^(A)if our gospel is veiled, ^(B)it is veiled to ^(C)those who are perishing. ⁴ In their case ^(D)the god of this world ^(E)has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing ^(F)the light of ^(G)the gospel of the glory of Christ, ^(H)who is the image of God.

^19 (A)And this is the judgment: ^(B)the light has come into the world, and ^(C)people loved the darkness rather than the light because ^(D)their works were evil. ^20 (E)For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, ^(F)lest his works should be exposed.

Israel's Failure to Hear and See

³ the great ^(A)trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders. ⁴ But to this day ^(B)the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.
