²³ When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.^(A)

²⁸ “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

In Berea

¹⁰ As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas^(A) away to Berea.^(B) On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.^(C)

²⁹ They got up, drove him out of the town,^(A) and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff. ³⁰ But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.^(B)

Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit^(C)

³¹ Then he went down to Capernaum,^(D) a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people.

²⁴ but Saul learned of their plan.^(A) Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him. ²⁵ But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.^(B)

8 And Saul^(A) approved of their killing him.

The Church Persecuted and Scattered

On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered^(B) throughout Judea and Samaria.^(C)

¹⁴ The believers^(A) immediately sent Paul to the coast, but Silas^(B) and Timothy^(C) stayed at Berea.

¹⁹ Then some Jews^(A) came from Antioch and Iconium^(B) and won the crowd over. They stoned Paul^(C) and dragged him outside the city, thinking he was dead. ²⁰ But after the disciples^(D) had gathered around him, he got up and went back into the city. The next day he and Barnabas left for Derbe.

⁶ But they found out about it and fled^(A) to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding country, ⁷ where they continued to preach^(B) the gospel.^(C)
