10 And ^(B)when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

Sending Out the Twelve^(A)

9 Then ^(B)He called His twelve disciples together and ^(C)gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. ^2 (D)He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. ^3 (E)And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.

^4 (F)“Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. ^5 (G)And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, ^(H)shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.”

^6 (I)So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

^13 (B)And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. ¹⁴ Then He appointed twelve, ^[a]that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, ¹⁵ and to have ^[b]power ^[c]to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:

^7 (B)And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out ^(C)two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. ⁸ He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts— ⁹ but ^(D)to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics.

^10 (E)Also He said to them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. ^11 (F)And ^[a]whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, ^(G)shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. ^[b]Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

¹² So they went out and preached that people should repent. ¹³ And they cast out many demons, ^(H)and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.

¹⁹ Behold, ^(A)I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

¹⁷ And these ^(A)signs will follow those who ^[a]believe: ^(B)In My name they will cast out demons; ^(C)they will speak with new tongues; ^18 (D)they^[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; ^(E)they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

^49 (A)Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city ^[a]of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

^8 (A)But you shall receive power ^(B)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and ^(C)you shall be ^[a]witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and ^(D)Samaria, and to the ^(E)end of the earth.”

²⁷ John answered and said, ^(A)“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.
