Jesus Again Foretells His Death and Resurrection

³⁰ They went on from there and passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know it,

⁴³ And all were astounded at the greatness of God.

Jesus Again Foretells His Death

While everyone was amazed at all that he was doing, he said to his disciples,^{(A) 44} “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands.”^{(B) 45} But they did not understand this saying; its meaning remained concealed from them, so that they could not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.^(C)

Jesus Again Foretells His Death and Resurrection

²² As they were gathering^[a] in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into human hands,^{(A) 23} and they will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised.” And they were greatly distressed.

³¹ He said to them, “Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat.^{(A) 32} And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves.^(B)

²² Pilate said to them, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?”^[a] All of them said, “Let him be crucified!” ²³ Then he asked, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!”
