⁴⁰ And they ridiculed Him. ^(A)But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying.

¹⁹ But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they laughed at us and despised us, and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? ^(A)Will you rebel against the king?”

³² And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.”

The Law, the Prophets, and the Kingdom

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees, ^(A)who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they ^[a]derided Him.

⁵³ And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.

⁵⁴ But He ^[a]put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, ^(A)arise.”

²⁴ He said to them, ^(A)“Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. ²⁵ But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and ^(B)took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

^6 (A)“Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
