²² Then one of the synagogue leaders,^(A) named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.

¹⁴ Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath,^(A) the synagogue leader^(B) said to the people, “There are six days for work.^(C) So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”

¹⁷ Then the crowd there turned on Sosthenes^(A) the synagogue leader^(B) and beat him in front of the proconsul; and Gallio showed no concern whatever.

⁸ Crispus,^(A) the synagogue leader,^(B) and his entire household^(C) believed in the Lord; and many of the Corinthians who heard Paul believed and were baptized.

¹⁵ After the reading from the Law^(A) and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak.”

³⁵ While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader.^(A) “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

³⁶ Overhearing^[a] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”

⁸ When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”^(A)

³³ Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth.

⁸ I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things.^(A) And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet^(B) of the angel who had been showing them to me.

²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me,^(A) Jesus, Son of the Most High God?^(B) I beg you, don’t torture me!”
