^10 (A)She went and told those who had been with him, ^(B)as they ^(C)mourned and wept.

¹⁸ Mary Magdalene ^(A)went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”—and that he had said these things to her.

⁶ But because I have said these things to you, ^(A)sorrow has filled your heart.

¹⁷ And he said to them, “What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad.

⁷² And immediately the rooster crowed ^(A)a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, ^(B)“Before the rooster crows twice, you will ^(C)deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept.^[a]

¹⁵ And Jesus said to them, ^(A)“Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? ^(B)The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and ^(C)then they will fast.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I say to you, ^(A)you will weep and lament, but ^(B)the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but ^(C)your sorrow will turn into joy. ^21 (D)When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. ^22 (E)So also you have sorrow now, but ^(F)I will see you again, and ^(G)your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

³⁰ Then ^(A)will appear in heaven ^(B)the sign of the Son of Man, and then ^(C)all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and ^(D)they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven ^(E)with power and great glory.
