²⁹ Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, ^(A)there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and ^(B)for the gospel,

³ I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up ^(A)for my name's sake, and you ^(B)have not grown weary.

²³ I do it all for the sake of the gospel, ^(A)that I may share with them in its blessings.

³⁵ For ^(A)whoever would save his life^[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake ^(B)and the gospel's will save it.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he was grown up, ^(A)refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, ^25 (B)choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy ^(C)the fleeting pleasures of sin. ^26 (D)He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to ^(E)the reward.

^10 (A)“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for ^(B)theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

^11 (C)“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely ^(D)on my account.

The Call of Abram

12 Now ^(A)the Lord said^[a] to Abram, “Go from your country^[b] and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. ^2 (B)And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. ^3 (C)I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and ^(D)in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”^[c]

²⁸ “You are those who have stayed with me ^(A)in my trials, ²⁹ and ^(B)I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, ^30 (C)that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and ^(D)sit on thrones judging ^(E)the twelve tribes of Israel.

^18 (A)and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, ^(B)to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.
