²⁷ Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, ^[a]“What is this? What new ^[b]doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

Sending Out the Twelve^(A)

9 Then ^(B)He called His twelve disciples together and ^(C)gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

³⁷ And they were ^(A)astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He ^(B)makes both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

³¹ So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the ^[a]maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they ^(A)glorified the God of Israel.

The Seventy Return with Joy

¹⁷ Then ^(A)the ^[a]seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

¹⁸ And He said to them, ^(B)“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, ^(C)I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ²⁰ Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but ^[b]rather rejoice because ^(D)your names are written in heaven.”

³⁶ Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection^(A)

^32 (B)Now they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them; and they were amazed. And as they followed they were afraid. ^(C)Then He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them the things that would happen to Him:

²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is ^[a]for those ^(A)who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God!

A House Divided Cannot Stand^(A)

^22 (B)Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the ^[a]blind and mute man both spoke and saw. ²³ And all the multitudes were amazed and said, “Could this be the ^(C)Son of David?”
