John the Baptist Prepares the Way^(A)

1 The ^(B)beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, ^(C)the Son of God.

¹¹ And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. ^12 (A)He who has the Son has ^[a]life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

^31 (A)but these are written that ^(B)you may believe that Jesus ^(C)is the Christ, the Son of God, ^(D)and that believing you may have life in His name.

^5 (A)While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ^(B)“This is My beloved Son, ^(C)in whom I am well pleased. ^(D)Hear Him!”

³ Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

The Word Becomes Flesh

^14 (A)And the Word ^(B)became ^(C)flesh and dwelt among us, and ^(D)we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, ^(E)full of grace and truth.

² just as those who ^(A)from the beginning were ^(B)eyewitnesses and ministers of the word ^(C)delivered them to us, ³ it seemed good to me also, having ^[a]had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, ^(D)most excellent Theophilus,

³³ Then those who were in the boat ^[a]came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly ^(A)You are the Son of God.”

^17 (A)And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ^(B)“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
