7 Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away(A) from my decrees and have not kept them. Return(B) to me, and I will return to you,”(C) says the Lord Almighty.
“But you ask,(D) ‘How are we to return?’
8 “Will a mere mortal rob(E) God? Yet you rob me.
“But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’
“In tithes(F) and offerings.

“But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’
“You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me.

“In tithes(F) and offerings. 9 You are under a curse(G)—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe(H) into the storehouse,(I) that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates(J) of heaven and pour out(K) so much blessing(L) that there will not be room enough to store it.(M) 11 I will prevent pests from devouring(N) your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,(O)” says the Lord Almighty.

“You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. 9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease.[a] Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
