¹¹ So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.^(A)

²⁰ At once they left their nets and followed him.^(A)

²⁸ Peter said to him, “We have left all we had to follow you!”^(A)

²⁹ “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God ³⁰ will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come^(B) eternal life.”^(C)

²⁸ and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.^(A)

²⁷ Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you!^(A) What then will there be for us?”

²¹ Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor,^(A) and you will have treasure in heaven.^(B) Then come, follow me.”^(C)

¹⁸ At once they left their nets and followed him.^(A)

¹⁹ When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. ²⁰ Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit^(B)

²¹ They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.^{(C) 22} The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.^{(D) 23} Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, ²⁴ “What do you want with us,^(E) Jesus of Nazareth?^(F) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”^(G)

²⁵ “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”^(H)

³⁷ “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.^(A)

⁷ But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss^(A) for the sake of Christ. ⁸ What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing^(B) Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ^(C)
