⁹ Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off!

³ Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.”

⁵ Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, ⁶ and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say,

⁴ and he was shown to be^[a] the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.^[b] He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

²⁹ They began screaming at him, “Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God’s appointed time?”

⁶ “All right, do with him as you please,” the Lord said to Satan. “But spare his life.”

⁴ The entry room at the front of the Temple was 30 feet^[a] wide, running across the entire width of the Temple, and 30 feet^[b] high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold.
