⁴⁶ And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ^(A)‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” ^(B)Having said this, He breathed His last.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, “Lord Jesus, ^(A)receive my spirit.”

³⁰ So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ^(A)“It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

^23 (A)who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but ^(B)committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;

³⁴ And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, ^(A)“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

³⁵ Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!” ³⁶ Then ^(B)someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and ^(C)offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”

^37 (D)And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.

³⁸ Then ^(E)the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. ³⁹ So ^(F)when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that ^[a]He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”

^40 (G)There were also women looking on ^(H)from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome, ⁴¹ who also ^(I)followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.

⁴⁶ And about the ninth hour ^(A)Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, ^(B)“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

⁴⁷ Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!” ⁴⁸ Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, ^(C)filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.

⁴⁹ The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”

⁵⁰ And Jesus ^(D)cried out again with a loud voice, and ^(E)yielded up His spirit.

⁵¹ Then, behold, ^(F)the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, ⁵² and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; ⁵³ and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

^54 (G)So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared greatly, saying, ^(H)“Truly this was the Son of God!”

⁵⁵ And many women ^(I)who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar, ^56 (J)among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and ^[a]Joses, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
