The Need for Watchfulness

³⁴ “Be on your guard,^(A) so that your minds are not dulled^[a] from carousing,^[b] drunkenness,^(B) and worries of life,^(C) or that day will come on you unexpectedly^(D)

²¹ envy,^[a](A) drunkenness, carousing,^(B) and anything similar. I tell you about these things in advance—as I told you before—that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.^(C)

¹⁸ And don’t get drunk^(A) with wine,^(B) which leads to reckless actions, but be filled by the Spirit:^(C)

³ For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the pagans choose to do:^[a] carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires,^(A) drunkenness, orgies,^(B) carousing, and lawless idolatry.
