¹² The Lord Almighty has a day^(A) in store
    for all the proud^(B) and lofty,^(C)
for all that is exalted^(D)
    (and they will be humbled),^(E)
13 for all the cedars of Lebanon,^(F) tall and lofty,^(G)
    and all the oaks of Bashan,^(H)
14 for all the towering mountains
    and all the high hills,^(I)
15 for every lofty tower^(J)
    and every fortified wall,^(K)
16 for every trading ship^[a](L)
    and every stately vessel.
¹⁷ The arrogance of man will be brought low^(M)
    and human pride humbled;^(N)
the Lord alone will be exalted in that day,^(O)
18     and the idols^(P) will totally disappear.^(Q)

¹⁹ People will flee to caves^(R) in the rocks
    and to holes in the ground^(S)
from the fearful presence^(T) of the Lord
    and the splendor of his majesty,^(U)
    when he rises to shake the earth.^(V)

⁹ Proclaim this among the nations:
    Prepare for war!^(A)
Rouse the warriors!^(B)
    Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.
¹⁰ Beat your plowshares into swords
    and your pruning hooks^(C) into spears.^(D)
Let the weakling^(E) say,
    “I am strong!”^(F)
11 Come quickly, all you nations from every side,
    and assemble^(G) there.

Bring down your warriors,^(H) Lord!

¹² “Let the nations be roused;
    let them advance into the Valley of Jehoshaphat,^(I)
for there I will sit
    to judge^(J) all the nations on every side.
¹³ Swing the sickle,^(K)
    for the harvest^(L) is ripe.
Come, trample the grapes,^(M)
    for the winepress^(N) is full
    and the vats overflow—
so great is their wickedness!”

¹⁴ Multitudes,^(O) multitudes
    in the valley^(P) of decision!
For the day of the Lord^(Q) is near
    in the valley of decision.^(R)

¹⁹ At that time I will deal
    with all who oppressed^(A) you.
I will rescue the lame;
    I will gather the exiles.^(B)
I will give them praise^(C) and honor
    in every land where they have suffered shame.
²⁰ At that time I will gather you;
    at that time I will bring^(D) you home.
I will give you honor^(E) and praise^(F)
    among all the peoples of the earth
when I restore your fortunes^[a](G)
    before your very eyes,”
says the Lord.
